Voices of Hope Peer Support Conference

Voices of Hope (VOH) is a Lexington-based organization with a mission to provide peer support to individuals in the recovery community. VOH hosted a peer support conference for individuals working in the recovery field. The conference focused on using research to educate peers providing services to individuals with co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health challenges.

KY Tobacco Prevention & Cessation Program Meeting

The KY Tobacco Prevention & Cessation Program offers monthly meetings for grantees to continue learning about tobacco cessation resources and related information. At their October 2024 meeting, Dr. Zim Okoli presented virtually about the importance of tobacco treatment in Kentucky's mental and behavioral health settings. The presentation was followed by a time for questions from health department grantees working to promote cessation. This meeting was held via Zoom on October 1st from 9:30AM-10:30AM. 

Recovery Month Celebration 2024

In honor of Recovery Month, an annual health observance celebrating Americans in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD), BH WELL joined members of Kentucky’s recovery community, state leaders, and health officials at the Capitol in Frankfort on Monday, September 16, 2024.

2024 Lexington Pride Festival

The Kentucky Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program (KTPC) hosted an exhibit booth promoting Quit Now Kentucky and My Life, My Quit at Lexington Pride Festival in Lexington, Kentucky, on June 29, 2024.

Building the Future of Behavioral Health: Practice and Research Initiatives Showcase at Eastern State Hospital (PRISE) took place on June 11, 2024. 

2024 KYSTARS Conference

The 2024 KYSTARS Consumer Conference will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Clarion Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky. The theme of this year’s conference is Growing Together, Growing Better: Planting the Seeds of Recovery.

SURE Conference

The annual Substance Use Research Event (SURE), showcases translational research conducted at the University of Kentucky focusing on substance use and substance use disorder. It is free and open to all members of UK and the greater Lexington community who are interested in the field.

2024 KCSP Tobacco Control Conference

The 2024 KY Tobacco Control Conference will take place from April 23rd - 24th at Embassy Suites Lexington/Coldstream in Lexington, Kentucky. The conference is hosted by the Kentucky Center for Smoke-free Policy (KCSP) and the Kentucky Department for Public Health’s Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program. Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) will participate in the conference and host a table where attendees can stop by and learn more about the importance of tobacco policy and tobacco treatment within mental and behavioral health organizations.

2024 CCTS Spring Conference

Experience the 19th Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Annual Spring Conference on April 9, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Central Bank Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Dive into the theme "Dissemination and Implementation across the Translational Spectrum" alongside a diverse gathering of researchers, clinicians, students, and community members who are ready to foster collaboration and share research findings! 

Horticultural Therapy's Impact on Mental Health

Join Madelyn Strong-Cline, RN BSN, a DNP student in Psych/Mental Health nursing at the University of Kentucky, as she presents "Horticultural Therapy, Impacts on Mental Health" at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) Donovan Forum event series! Madelyn will be discussing therapeutic benefits of horticultural therapy and how gardening as a holistic practice can positively influence mental well-being.
