33rd Annual Nursing Research Papers Day

On November 10, 2023, BH WELL attended the 33rd Annual Nursing Research Papers Day which was held at The Campbell House in Lexington, KY. During the event, BH WELL hosted a table and provided information about our research, programs, and resources.    

Integrating Tobacco and Nicotine Treatment into Substance Use Disorder Recovery

On Wednesday, November 8th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (EST), BH WELL hosted the workshop, Integrating Tobacco and Nicotine Treatment into Substance Use Disorder Recovery, via Zoom. The workshop was FREE and we have approval to provide 3.5 CEs for nursing through the Kentucky Board of Nursing and for social work through the Kentucky Board of Social Work for attendees. The target audience for this workshop was tobacco treatment specialists, health educators, and other health professionals. Recordings from the workshop are posted on the page below.

APNA 37th Annual Conference

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association 37th Annual Conference took place October 4-7, 2023 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) research team presented "The Effect of Cognitive Enhancement Therapy on Social Cognition among People Living with Serious Mental Illnesses" (presented by Sarret Seng). Dr. Zim Okoli gave the President's Address as APNA President. 

Recovery Month Rally

In honor of Recovery Month, an annual health observance celebrating Americans in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD), BH WELL will join members of Kentucky’s recovery community, state leaders, and health officials at the Capitol in Frankfort on Friday, September 22, 2023. Along with numerous community partners, the event will feature inspirational stories of hope and resilience along with free access to naloxone, information about SUD and recovery support programs, second chance employment, and health care access.

Harvest Hands BH WELL Training

BH WELL will be meeting with the Harvest Hands program team on September 7, 2023 to discuss BH WELL and behavioral health and wellness resources. BH WELL at the State Fair

The Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) hopes to see YOU at the Kentucky State Fair Exhibit Hall on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Did you know that stopping tobacco use aids mental and behavioral health recovery? We will be at the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation table ready to discuss this and other behavioral health aspects of tobacco dependence treatment.   The Kentucky Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program will have a table at the Kentucky State Fair during both fair weekends: August 19-20 and August 26-27.  

SIGMA Congress 2023

The Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) research team will be presenting at the 34th International Nursing Research Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 20-23 July 2023, a Sigma event. The conference will include over 800 nurse researchers, students, and clinicians pursuing evidence-based research.
