State CDC Behavioral Health Grantee Webinar Training

This closed training held at 2:00 PM EST on January 28th, 2021 is being provided to the Kentucky Department for Public Health Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program CDC Behavioral Health Grantees. Representatives from four Kentucky health departments will be trained on how to engage clients with mental illnesses and behavioral health challenges in tobacco treatment. This evidence-based training also includes sharing existing statewide behavioral health tobacco policy survey data with the grantees as well as resources available to them at no cost.

Winter Break Group Fitness Classes

Group fitness provides group motivation and accountability along with the many benefits of physical activity. Join other UK faculty, staff, and students for free, virtual group fitness classes provided by UK Campus Recreation. Choose from a variety of classes including yoga, kickboxing, HIIT, hip hop cardio and more. These classes will run throughout UK's winter break, November 30 - January 22. BH WELL's very own Dr. LeeAnne Walmsley will teach the KORU meditation class on Thursdays at 12:45 PM.

KNA Virtual Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony

Zim Okoli PhD, MPH, MSN, RN, NCTTP, Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) Director, was awarded Outstanding Nurse Researcher of the Year from the Kentucky Nurses Association (KNA). The KNA Virtual Conference Awards Program took place virtually October 29th at 6 PM EST. APHA Annual Meeting and Expo 2020

American Public Health Association's (APHA) annual meeting and expo will be held virtually due to COVID-19. BH WELL's Janet Otachi presented her research "Correlates of Workplace Violence Among Healthcare Workers in an Academic Medical Center" on Monday, October 26th. This presentation highlights factors associated with workplace violence in a sample of healthcare workers from an academic medical center.

APNA Annual Conference

American Psychiatric Nurse Association's 34th annual conference will be held online due to COVID-19. BH WELL's very own Dr. Zim Okoli and Dr. Amanda Lykins will present their research "Post-Traumatic Growth Among Nurses: What are Influencing Factors?" on Friday October 2nd 12:40 PM EST - 1:25 PM EST.

Work Learning Program Doctoral Cohort Orientation

The Work Learning Program is pleased to welcome our Doctoral Cohort to orientation! This event will take place July 31, 2020 at 12 PM EST. A total of 11 Eastern State Hospital employees are also returning to school to work on their Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Social Work degrees. The orientation will give students and faculty a chance to discuss program support and student needs.

Research & Policy Conference on Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Behavioral Health

The Tampa Conference Webinar Series was held by the Children's Mental Health Network. This was hosted in place of the in person conference scheduled for March 2020. The webinar was presented by KVC Kentucky's Jarrod Dungan along with Denise Jones and BH WELL Director Dr. Zim Okoli. The webinar covers the development of Patient Experience Questionnaire Measuring Patient Satisfaction and Quality of Care in Behavioral Healthcare Environment.
