Lewis Honors Self-Care + Gardening Event

The Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) research team hosted the Lewis Honors Self-Care and Gardening event in the University of Kentucky Lewis Honors College Lobby on February 1, 2023 from 3:00PM-4:30PM. Students participated in planting and coloring activity stations, had their photo made with Bailey H. Bee (BH WELL’s mascot), and spoke with BH WELL team members about the benefits of self-care, mental and behavioral health research, and psychiatric nursing. 

Comic Evaluation with Prize Drawings- Life Feels Heavy: Lighten The Load

Read the Comic  BH WELL conducted a comic book evaluation with prize drawings! Anyone who helped us evaluate this comic book was eligible to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of six $20 Amazon gift cards. The evaluation was open from February 8, 2023 to April 8, 2023.

Behavioral Health Coloring and Self-Care Event

The Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) research team hosted a Behavioral Health Coloring and Self-Care event on January 25th from 11:00AM- 1:00PM in the Dizney Building at Eastern Kentucky University. This drop-by event was informal, fun, and free! Attendees were invited to choose a behavioral health coloring book (or two) and spend a few moments coloring. The books focus on the importance of self-care and the eight dimensions of wellness.  

LexCount

Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) partnered with LexEnd Homelessness and Eastern State Hospital for LexCount! LexCount was a night where the Lex End Homelessness Continuum of Care (CoC) used teams of volunteers to visit dozens of outdoor locations where persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness might be found overnight.

Undergraduate Research + Creative Experience Summer Expo

BH WELL participated in the University of Kentucky's (UK) Undergraduate Research + Creative Experience Summer Expo January 20, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM​ EST in the Gatton Student Center. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about undergraduate research opportunities with BH WELL, get connected to BH WELL social media, learn about our recent tobacco treatment research, and grab some BH WELL goodies!

Simulated Scenario Lunch & Learn Series

BH WELL hosted a series of four lunch-and-learn seminars from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, beginning in January 2023 and running through April 2023. For each session, we had approval to provide 1 CE through the Kentucky Board of Nursing (#4-0070-12-24-801, #4-0070-12-24-802, #4-0070-12-24-803, #4-0070-12-24-804) and through the Kentucky Board of Social Work (#202235).

BH WELL Giveaway Day

Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) LOVES our University of Kentucky students. With finals right around the corner, we had a self-care giveaway! The giveaway was a tote full of self-care items such as socks, a scalp massager, a back scratcher, bluetooth speaker, a fidget cube, a UK blue mood cup, a travel first aid kit, magnetic chip clip, and much more! Recovery in Mental & Behavioral Health Care: Tackling the Hidden Epidemic of Tobacco Use

This workshop provided targeted behavioral health tobacco treatment training for tobacco treatment specialists, health educators, and other health professionals.  This workshop was funded through a grant from the Kentucky Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. UK Curiosity Fair

The Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) research team participated in the University of Kentucky's Curiosity Fair on October 27, 2022 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM​ EST in the Gatton Student Center Ballroom. The BH WELL table invited participants to take part in a grounding experience of potting plant clippings and learn about the benefits of gardening to mental health. Whether it’s at work, studying for an exam, or spending time with family and friends, we all deserve to BH WELL!

APNA 36th Annual Conference

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association 36th Annual Conference took place October 19-23, 2022 in Long Beach California. Over 1,800 psychiatric nurses and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners attended.
