Research and Practice Initiatives Day (RAPID) began at Eastern State Hospital (ESH) as an event to showcase the research and evidence-based programs that serve their patients. The inaugural RAPID event occurred in April 2018. It was hosted by the ESH Research Council, chaired and supported by Dr. Okoli. The event grew with RAPID 2019 having to go off-site to accommodate the growing number of attendees. Another milestone was having the Research Council and RAPID now chaired by a full-time ESH staff member. As part of the Academic-Practice Partnership in which BH WELL is a partner, RAPID was designed to advance education, enhance staff development, support research, and improve patient outcomes. Serving patient needs during the COVID-19 pandemic placed a pause on this event for a few years. In 2024, the annual research showcase returned under a new name: Practice and Research Initiatives Showcase at ESH (PRISE).
