As part of the Academic-Practice Partnership of which BH WELL is a partner, an Eastern State Hospital (ESH) Research Council (RC) was begun in 2015. Having a research council on-site allows ESH to support improved patient outcomes. It provides support in designing and implementing evidence-based programs. It also provides a place for hospital health providers and staff to bring challenges to which they are seeking solutions. The RC can help assure potential research and program changes adhere to and/or enhance existing best practices. The RC was also designed to provide a platform where existing research and evidence-based programs can be shared. The overall purpose of a RC, including the ESH RC, is to help improve policies, understanding, and education in matters of patient and staff safety and health.
