The Work Learning Program is pleased to welcome our Doctoral Cohort to orientation! This event will take place July 31, 2020 at 12 PM EST. A total of 11 Eastern State Hospital employees are also returning to school to work on their Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Social Work degrees. The orientation will give students and faculty a chance to discuss program support and student needs.

The Work Learning Program (WLP) is an initiative to advance education, enhance staff development, support research, and improve patient outcomes through an Academic-Practice partnership between the University of Kentucky, UK Healthcare,  Eastern State Hospital (ESH), UK College of Nursing (UKCON) and UK College of Social Work. Key elements of the Doctoral ESH-WLP are:

  1. Space for Learning
  2. Smooth transition from work to work/school
  3. Create a sense of belonging
  4. Program Coordination
  5. Program commitment.

Specific integrated, activities such as scientific writing and statistical analysis seminars (monthly and semester-based) create opportunities for this cohort to develop and present shared evidence-based science at conferences such as ESH’s Research And Practice Initiatives Day (RAPID).
