BH WELL faculty member, Dr. Lee Anne Walmsley, spoke to 60 students involved in sorority life at UK. She discussed mental health awareness and the importance of self-care. Students made blankets and took the "gratitude challenge" as a self-care activity. The "gratitude challenge" involves students writing what they are grateful for and why. This could be family, friends, pets, good weather, opportunities, etc. Evidence shows that the "why" of this activity is the key. Regularly practicing gratitude in this way increases positive emotions and makes one feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. See what the students said they are grateful for in this brief video.

BH WELL supported the event with activities and an information table where participants could learn more about the eight dimensions of wellness and tobacco dependence treatment.
