The Kentucky Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program (KTPC) hosted an exhibit booth promoting Quit Now Kentucky and My Life, My Quit at Lexington Pride Festival in Lexington, Kentucky, on June 29, 2024. BH WELL joined KTPC staff at the booth to offer support and share resources with individuals who want to stop smoking or vaping. The Lexington Pride Festival is a community celebration to empower and bring awareness to the intersectional lives of LGBTQIA+ Kentuckians. This event welcomes over 20,000 individuals from all over the state and works to promote social, economic, and health equity of Kentucky’s sexual and gender minorities.

The LGBTQIA+ population is among the hardest hit by tobacco in the United States. About 1 in 6 (15.3%) of lesbian, gay, and bisexual adults smoke cigarettes, compared to about 1 in 9 (11.4%) of heterosexual/straight adults. Stopping smoking has several physical as well as psychological benefits to one's health. BH WELL realizes that stopping smoking can be a difficult task which is why we are proud to promote several helpful resources. Quit Now Kentucky is a great resource that allows you to connect with a personal coach by visiting their website or calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW (784-8669). My Life, My Quit™ is a free and confidential way for youth to quit smoking or vaping. Text "Start My Quit" to 36072 or visit their website to chat with a coach.
