BH WELL, along with our partner, Eastern State Hospital, is hosting a lunch and learn workshop entitled: Understanding the Role of Occupational Therapy as part of a Multidisciplinary Team in Mental and Behavioral Health Settings. The presenter will be Claudia Rose OTD R/L with nurse and social work consult provided by Amanda Lykins, PhD, RN and Lella Still, DSW, LCSW. 

 

The workshop will explore the role of occupational therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team in mental and behavioral health settings. Dr. Rose will explore how occupational therapy uniquely contributes to psychiatric stabilization, discharge readiness, and long-term recovery.

Who might benefit from attending? Psychiatrists, physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, rec therapists, art therapists, other mental and behavioral health specialists, and leadership working within mental and behavioral health systems.  

RNs and LPNs will receive 1.0 Contact Hours for course completion.

Social Workers and Other Related Professions will receive 1.0 Contact Hours for course completion.

Participants must attend the workshop and demonstrate engagement and knowledge by completing the evaluation survey at the end of each session in order to receive one-hour continuing education credit.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Have a basic understanding of occupational therapy (OT)  practice and therapeutic interventions.
  2. Describe the role of OT practice in mental and behavioral health.
  3. Understand key differences between OT and other health professions.
  4. Understand ways health professionals work with occupational therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team.
