Dr. Chizimuzo T.C. Okoli visited the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau on January 17, 2025 to strengthen the existing relationship with the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. During the visit, Dr. Okoli met with two of BH WELL’s earliest visiting scholars (2015), ‘Cecelia’ U Wai Ang and ‘Selwynne’ Cheong Wan who are both Assistant Professors at the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau.  

 

The goals of the visit were to: 

  1. Support and strengthen the existing relationship between Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau and the University of Kentucky by requesting interest in renewing an existing memorandum of understanding. 
  1. Discuss opportunities for ongoing student and scholar exchange. 
  1. Discussed research interests and collaborative global projects on mental health.

The Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) is in Macau, Special Administrative Region (SAR), China. According to their website, “Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC), founded in 1923, is a subsidiary institution of the Kiang Wu Charitable Association (KWCA). Evolving from the former Kiang Wu Senior Nursing School, the College is the longest-standing nursing education institute in Macao. Chizimuzo T.C. Okoli, PhD, MPH, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, NCTTP, FAAN is a Professor at University of Kentucky College of Nursing, Executive Director of Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL), Co-Director of Bridging Research Efforts and Advocacy Towards Healthy Environments (BREATHE), and Director of Behavioral Health Research and Evidence Based Practice and Tobacco Treatment Services at Eastern State Hospital. He served as past president of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and has been inducted into the Sigma Nursing Honor Society International Researcher Hall of Fame. He is an American Association of Nursing Fellow and a Fulbright Specialist.
