Welcome to the Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL) Graduation Spotlight, where we celebrate the achievements of our outstanding students. Today, we shine the spotlight on Priscilla Cho, who is graduating in May 2023 from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Priscilla also works as a project assistant with BH WELL where she supports content development related to behavioral health and tobacco dependence educational resources. She has been with our team since July 2021.

When asked why she chose nursing, Priscilla noted that nursing seemed like a good balance between science and human interaction. Throughout her college experience, there have been ups and downs. Clinical experiences are varied and have left her still exploring where the best fit will be for her.

In addition to nursing school, Priscilla has continued to work with BH WELL. She has consistently demonstrated great care in creating content, assuring the latest science and evidence-based findings are shared in fun and creative ways. She has also gained invaluable experience assisting with BH WELL research projects.

“One of Priscilla's greatest strengths is her attention to detail. She has a natural ability to organize complex concepts and present those concepts in innovative, easy-to-follow ways.” shares Heather Robertson, BH WELL Director of Executive Operations.

Priscilla reflects on her time with BH WELL. “I appreciate how diverse the BH WELL team is - different backgrounds and even majors. We all collectively focus on approaching health holistically and not just the physical aspect of it. Because I'm not an expert in certain topics, having team opinions helps my writing be concise and in a way where people can understand it. The mentorship has been extremely helpful.”

She also appreciates BH WELL Executive Director Dr. Zim Okoli and his mentorship. “When working with Dr. Okoli, even though he is a professor, it doesn't feel like there is a huge gap between student and professor. It creates for a very open and learning-based work environment. I'm not afraid to ask questions or speak.”

Dr. Okoli shares, “It is quite an accomplishment for Priscilla to get to this point in her career. She has been an incredible asset to the BHWELL team in helping to design relevant, thought-provoking, and informative educational information which provides insight into important mental health issues. Moreover, Priscilla’s willingness to tackle any assignment, initiative taking, and creative solutions to her work have been important contributions to the excellence of the work BHWELL produces. I look forward to seeing the amazing work that Priscilla is going to do as a nurse and leader. Can’t wait to see all that she will accomplish!”

After graduation, Priscilla plans to either complete a gap year or work on a medical/surgical unit in a hospital. There is no doubt that she will excel in nursing. We are proud to have her as part of the BH WELL team and wish her all the best as she embarks on the next chapter of her life. Congratulations, Priscilla!

When Priscilla is not studying nursing or working with BH WELL, you may find her getting up and moving. She enjoys exercising or walking and exploring her environment. Priscilla claims that she cannot sit still too long but also enjoys relaxing, watching a show, listening to an audiobook, or spending time with friends.
