Quit and Win 2022 at New Vista

This study challenges individuals to stop tobacco use for 30 days. Those who successfully stop will be entered into a prize drawing. Gift cards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each location. Recruitment for the study was completed in 2 visits to New Vista in March 2022. A return visit took place on April 28, 2022, where contest participants will be tested again for carbon monoxide levels.

Behavioral Health and Tobacco Dependence Treatment Workshop Series

BH WELL is hosting monthly lunchtime seminars related to behavioral health and tobacco dependence. The seminars will take place via Zoom and include a 30-minute teaching followed by 30 minutes of Q&A.  Registration Agenda  

Mental Health Awareness Panhellenic Event

BH WELL faculty member, Dr. Lee Anne Walmsley, spoke to 60 students involved in sorority life at UK. She discussed mental health awareness and the importance of self-care. Students made blankets and took the "gratitude challenge" as a self-care activity. The "gratitude challenge" involves students writing what they are grateful for and why. This could be family, friends, pets, good weather, opportunities, etc. Evidence shows that the "why" of this activity is the key.

Sigma's 46th Biennial Convention

Ohoud Alosais and Dr. Zim Okoli presented at Sigma's 46th Biennial Convention in Indianapolis, IN November 2021. Sigma is an international community of nurses, dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, teaching, learning, and service through the cultivation of communities of practice, education, and research.

APNA 35th Annual Conference

BH WELL participated in the American Psychiatric Nurses Association's (APNA) 35th Annual Conference held virtually October 13-16, 2021. Approximately 1,200 people were in attendance. UK Curiosity Fair

BH WELL participated in UK's Curiosity Fair on October 12, 2021 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM​ EST in the Gatton Student Center Ballroom. The BH WELL table had about 60 visitors who were offered a chance to practice gratitude, grab some goodies, and take the “BH WELL” challenge. Whether it’s during a pandemic, prepping for an exam, or just walking through life, we all deserve to BH WELL! 

Undergraduate Research + Creative Experience Expo

Along with UK College of Nursing, BH WELL will be represented at the Undergraduate Research + Creative Experience Expo on September 13. This expo is designed to introduce scholars to the diversity of research and staff as well as to learn about opportunities for conducting mentored research and creative inquiry. BH WELL will spotlight our current Comic Book Evaluation study as well as provide an overview of BH WELL’s research interests. The goals of the Undergraduate Research + Creative Experience Expo include:
